Jessie's Wedding

Welcome to Johnson City!

Bridal Registry

I keep forgetting to mention it - but Jessie is registered at Target and Bed, Bath, & Beyond. The Target registry apparently has a larger selection of merchandise on it. (I haven't checked.)

Also - if you are shipping items, note that she is back in TN. I only have a PO address for her but the registry has the correct address for shipping.

Her mailing address is:
PO Box 4253
Johnson City TN, 37602

Rehearsal Dinner

The Rehearsal dinner will be held at approx 7 PM ** at the church hall if anyone would like to join us. Just let me know ASAP (June 21) so I know how many to plan for. We'll be serving pulled pork BBQ from the Firehouse restaurant and pizza for those who don't like BBQ. We'll bring any leftovers back to the hotel for late-night snackers.

** The rehearsal is at 6 PM. I don't know how long it will take but dinner starts when the rehearsal is over.

Things to Do

If you get in early and want to see waterfalls or other natural attractions in the area, see  East Tennessee Day Trips. A early riser could hit one of the waterfalls Saturday morning and be back in town in plenty of time for the wedding. A map is here

For those who aren't into hiking to waterfalls (although they are easy walks) Roan Mountain may be at it's peak for color - the rhododendrons bloom in late June, the exact period is dependant on the weather.

If you can take "the long way home", the Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice drive and should be full of spring color too.

We're arriving Wednesday evening and are planning a trip Thursday morning to the parkway - a stop at the Moses Cone center near Boone, NC before heading south to the "fudge factory" - it's really the Orchard at Altapass but they have really good fudge in a lot of flavors (we like pumpkin and tiger butter). I'll have some in the hospitality suite.

We're taking the grandkids to the Natural Tunnel Friday morning. I think they are too young for the waterfalls (or I'm too old to take 3 energetic boys under the age of 6 to potentially dangerous areas), although if its hot, they might enjoy playing in the water instead. (Stoney Creek isn't very far from the Tunnel.)

Unless we leave town really late on Sunday, we'll hit my favorite winery on the parkway, Chateau Morrisette, before heading north.
