Food and Shopping in Johnson City

There are several restaurants near the hotel and a Kroger grocery store just up the street. There are two other areas with places to eat (and shop) - the Mall and North Johnson City.  All restaurants in Tennessee are non-smoking.

The Hospitality room will be open after the rehearsal and again after the reception. We'll have soda, beer, wine and snacks available.

The college (ETSU) is across the street from the hotel and the Veterans Administration grounds are behind it, for those who want to take a walk.

Rehearsal Dinner

The Rehearsal dinner will be held at the church hall at approximately 7PM ** if anyone would like to join us. Just let me know ASAP so I know how many to plan for. We'll be serving pulled pork BBQ (includes baked beans, cole slaw, dessert, and tea) from the Firehouse restaurant and pizza for those who don't like BBQ. We'll bring any leftovers back to the hotel for late-night snackers.

** The rehearsal is at 6 PM. I don't know how long it will take but dinner starts when the rehearsal is over.

The Firehouse is a popular local restaurant not far from the hotel - Liz worked there when she was in high school. She said the food (especially the dessert) is great.

The Mall at Johnson City

There are numerous restaurants along 'the strip' in front of the Mall (11E/N Roan St). Applebee's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Johnny Carino's, and several steak houses are located on Roan St.
From the Carnegie Hotel

1. Head northeast on W State of Franklin Rd toward Lake St - 0.2 mi
2. Turn left at Tennessee St - 0.3 mi
3. Turn right at Lamont St - 482 ft
4. Turn left at Hillcrest Dr - 0.3 mi
5. Turn right at US-11E N - 1.9 mi
6. Turn left at Mountcastle Circle - 0.1 mi

There is a Target across the street. A Kroger grocery store is up N Roan St just past the mall area.

North Johnson City

Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sam's, Kohl's -  restaurants  in this area include Chili's, Outback, Carrabba's, Cheddars

Some of the shopping is on the Wal-Mart (marked with the B on the map) side of the Interstate, the rest is on the other side, before you get to Wal-Mart.

From the Carnegie Hotel to Wal-Mart

  1. Head southwest on W State of Franklin Rd/TN-381 toward Millenium Blvd - 5.3 mi
  2. Turn left at Browns Mill Rd - 0.4 mi (Wal-Mart)

The other stores and restaurants are in the Knob Creek area, before you get to Wal-mart.
